Dietetic Technician

Interviewing patients to determine dietary tolerances, current intake, and eating difficulties. Obtaining pertinent information recorded in the patient electronic medical record related to nutrition risk. Provides basic diet instructions to patients and their families and documents in the electronic medical record. Interprets diet orders, ensures appropriateness of menu selection, and incorporates tolerances into patient meal plans. Evaluating food consumption on trays identified for calorie calculation. Utilizing appropriate references and/or a computer to calculate protein and calorie intake. Appropriately referring patients requiring intervention of a clinical dietitian. Provides education using established protocol and educational materials.
