About the role

The duties may include, but are not limited to: Serves as consultant to the Area Veterinarian in Charge (AVIC) and State officials on regulatory veterinary medical problems. Directs the activities of Federal veterinarians through subordinates and cooperators who are concerned with the diagnosis of animal diseases, sanitary conditions, and the application of Animal Health Coordinates the State/Federal Animal Health Programs under terms of cooperative agreements with State officials. Maintains emergency response readiness through education, training, medical clearance and fit-testing and responds to requests from Animal Plant Health Inspection Services for emergency response. Participates in the planning and execution of emergency test exercises at the local, state, regional, national, and international level with Veterinary Services partners Prioritize work unit goals and objectives, ensuring work unit activities and objectives are consistent with FiOps and VS national program procedure
