About the role
The Director is responsible for providing executive leadership and operational accountability for the FLHP with activities and projects in a multi-State area. This includes providing leadership for planning, research, engineering and construction supervision of projects on Federal lands for the Federal Lands Management Agencies and for projects in support of other Federal, State, and tribal partners. In addition, the Director: Exercises executive planning, direction, and conduct of activities for execution of all aspects of the FLHP and related programs. Assures maximum Federal-State-local-tribal cooperation, coordination and consultation in achievement of Federal Lands programs. Represents the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) in dealings with Federal agencies, State and local officials, industry representatives, technical associations, and citizens' groups. Promotes increased understanding and acceptance of FHWA programs and stimulates greater acceptance of policies and programs.
