Medical Technician

Perform phlebotomy duties to include venipuncture, finger-stick, and heel-stick to acquire blood samples. Perform a variety of testing in the hematology, microbiology, chemistry, and serology sections. Prepare laboratory specimens for transport in accordance with all applicable federal and safety standards. Comply with Joint Commission (JC), College of American Pathologists (CAP) and with Medical Department Activity (MEDDAC) safety guidelines for handling specimens. Review test request orders prior to collecting specimens, determining whether the patient has been properly prepared for the test (fasting, special diet, medication etc).
