Superintendent, Gateway National Recreation Area

The Superintendent manages the Park's infrastructure, employees, budget, natural and cultural resources, and visitor services. Responsibilities also include: Monitors and evaluates park operations for efficiency and effectiveness and sets long- and short-term goals and standards. Represents the National Park Service on larger efforts impacting the National Park Service's interests in the greater New York harbor and metropolitan area. Responsible for preserving and protecting the area's natural, scenic, and cultural values. Balances stewardship and resource preservation responsibilities with the need to accommodate thousands of visitors each day. Maintains and operates a complex inventory of park physical facilities necessary for visitor use and area administration.
