Director - Directorate of Cooperative and State Programs

Provides for the development, analysis, evaluation and approval of State occupational safety and health programs. Encourages States to assume the fullest responsibility for occupational safety and health programs and assures that such programs meet the effectiveness criteria established by the OSH Act of 1970. Develops systems for and evaluates the training components of State plan and the quality of training and education services provided. Maintains liaison with employer organizations and business enterprises, employee organizations and nationally organized safety and health organizations to promote program objectives. Makes major program decisions to provide for the efficient and effective accomplishment of assigned mission. Provides leadership and policy guidance to key subordinate supervisory and staff officials. Resolves major program and operating problems and controls work results through staff meetings, conferences and program reviews.
