About the role

Directing the work of Accountants, Health Insurance Specialists, and contractor staff by assigning tasks based on priority and complexity, establishing short-term schedules, and ensuring court deadlines and timeliness standards are met. Establishing internal controls and monitoring division performance to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal audit requirements, including overseeing the development of SOPs and training materials. Representing CMS voice on Medicare bankruptcy and overpayment recovery policy in proceedings with external stakeholders, including MACs, DOJ, and OIG. Managing the full lifecycle of Medicare bankruptcy and overpayment recovery cases, including filing proofs of claim with U.S. Bankruptcy Courts and issuing closing instructions to Medicare Administrative Contractors for timely Trust Fund recovery.
