About the role
The major duties of the Supervisory Criminal Investigator (Deputy Division Chief) position include, but are not limited to, the following: Plans and manages the division's programs pertaining to the firearms statutes within the jurisdiction of ATF. Interprets and implements firearms policies and regulations; keeps abreast of newly proposed or enacted legislation impacting the division's programs/projects, firearms trafficking, the examination, testing, evaluation and classification of firearms and ammunition. Advises the Assistant Director and Deputy Assistant Directors (Intelligence Operations) of program changes and operations that may generate media or Congressional attention. Oversees the research and dissemination of technical knowledge and advice relating to firearms' issues/matters to other ATF offices, other Federal agencies, Federal, State, local and foreign law enforcement agencies, and members of the firearms industry.
