About the role
You will perform traditional nondestructive inspection of castings, forgings, machined parts, test plates, welds, metal cladding, pipes, bar stock, flat metal sheets, airframe and engine assemblies. You will utilize NDI test equipment and chemicals applicable to the total range of nondestructive examination methods. You will calibrate and operate traditional test equipment such as eddy current testing (ET) equipment, magnetic particle testing (MT) equipment, penetrant testing (PT) equipment, visual testing (VT) equipment and temper etch (TE) equipment. You will inspect parts for flaws or defects, discontinuities in patterns, interprets indications and documents flaws or defects in material and prepares reports on defective parts. You will work with subordinate inspectors to set the pace and demonstrate proper inspection methods and may be required to work with trainees.
