About the role
Each year, $1.5 trillion of trade and 340 million people legally cross U S. borders. Ports of entry are America's gateways to the world, enabling international commerce, immigration, and tourism. CBP's Office of Field Operations (OFO) has the critical role of securing the flow of people and goods across the borders at the ports of entry. To protect America from harm, CBP must detect and remove the people and goods that pose a threat from the legitimate annual flow of people, cargo containers, and conveyances. As Port Director, you will direct all activities involving the administration of laws and regulations relating to inspection and clearance of carriers, baggage, persons, and cargo arriving in the United States. You will implement Headquarters and field office policies, programs, and procedures and assure their consistent and equitable application throughout the organization.
