Financial Litigation Legal Assistant (Office Automation)

This posting seeks Legal Assistant applicants for our Financial Litigation Unit (FLU). FLU oversees the collection of criminal and civil debts owed to victims of federal crime and to the United States. You will be supporting FLU AUSAs who conduct asset investigations, aggressively pursue garnishments of wages, turn-over orders for debtors' assets, and seek to unwind fraudulent transfers of assets. Typical work assignments will include: Obtains and analyzes financial information on debtors to determine ability pay; Reviewing and analyzing claims for legal merit and compliance with Federal Debt Collections Procedures Act; Processes a variety of payment instruments from debtors in accordance with the internal control policies; Examining, preparing and processing a variety of technical legal documents, e.g., complaints, motions, orders, answers, pleadings, and subpoenas; Assist attorneys by searching for legal precedent in indices and computerized legal reference systems; Assists in conduc
