About the role
As a Paralegal Specialist in the United States Attorney's Office (USAO), Post Conviction section, you will: Perform substantive legal research using a variety of research tools; Review and organize complex factual material and other documentary data; Use tables and citation checking with efficiency; Independently prepare substantive legal documents to include responses to post-conviction motions seeking collateral relief pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2255 and various criminal pleadings, with an emphasis on identifying and addressing the legal issues, proper citation, grammar, and spelling; Review files and respond to Freedom of Information Act requests; Analyze documentation relevant to acquiring evidence or testimony; Develop and enter various case material into a computer database; Prepare charts, graphs, and tables to illustrate results; Provide litigation case management and organize cases for court presentation; Handle administrative responsibilities associated with pre-trial diversion
