Perform a wide variety of difficult and complex laboratory tests and examinations in the chemistry, serology, hematology, urinalysis, immunohematology, and microbiology sections of a Military Treatment Facility (MTF) laboratory. Select appropriate test methodology to use and recognizes when test values are positive or exceed a defined decision limit, based on the results that determine the need for additional testing. Provide presumptive level bioterrorism agency identification in support of Home Land Defense (HLD) and oversees proficiency training in this area of the lab. Provide training for laboratory personnel. Ensure proper collection and processing of specimens for reference laboratory testing. Perform fluorescent antibody tests such as the fluorescent treponemal antibody absorption test, a serologic test for syphilis, and the fluorescent antibody test for lupus erythematosus.
