About the role

Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the incumbent is responsible for the full range of budgetary management operations necessary to support the Library's programs and personnel. Specifically, the incumbent is responsible for the formulation, presentation, and execution of the budget for the Library of Congress and is Acting CFO in the absence of the CFO as directed. The incumbent provides a wide range of analytical, technical, managerial, and advisory functions related to the budgetary process. Schedules and coordinates the efforts of the budget staff, service units, and other staff offices to produce an integrated budget plan for the Library of Congress. In preparing and justifying the plan, the Budget Officer is responsible for developing and/or editing justification statements for requested multi-year and no-year appropriations; briefing agency officials on testimony to be given before the appropriations committees; providing expert advice to Library officials
