About the role
Frames patron artwork or pictures following work order specifications. Selects finished wood or wood substitute/material from existing stock, measures and uses chopper to cut material to desired dimensions, and cuts stock with cutter or miter saw and glues or nails frame corners together. The incumbent uses small hand tools (e.g. hammer, drill, nail punch, glass scorer, mat knife, stapler, paper cutter) to assemble the picture frame. Cuts mat board to achieve special cutting effects specified in the work order. Measures and cuts fabric or paper mat material, mounts artwork to mat or backing assembly, and secures work with retention staples. The work is completed with a heat seal to mount the picture to the backing. Measures, scores, and breaks protective glass to proper dimensions. Measures, cuts, and assembles backing material and picture hanging devices.
