Cytology Technician

Cytology Technician will perform specialized, difficult, delicate, and demanding procedures and techniques, in preparing a great variety of cytologic specimens from many body sites. Operate, calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot all cytology analyzers. Verify correct instrument operation using established procedures and quality control checks (i.e., background checks, optic checks, temperature checks, pipet checks). Perform all daily, weekly and monthly maintenance of all instrumentation. Record all maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting activities with detailed documentation for supervisory review. Perform and document performance of daily staining quality control and maintenance procedures. Orient new cytology staff to cytopreparatory procedures and workflow of samples received at TAMC.
