Nurse (Clinical/Medical Surgical Pediatrics)

Ensure maintenance of adequate medical supplies and medications to be used in crash cart. Develop a nursing care plan for the management of acute and chronically ill adult and pediatric patients collaborating with other members of the health care team. Administer oxygen, IV fluids, blood transfusions, chemotherapy and prescribed oral, subcutaneous and intramuscular medications utilizing mg/kg-dosing calculations for pediatric and adult patients as required. Provide information and education on the disease process, pre and postoperative care, procedures, safety factors, use of equipment, use of medications and health maintenance issues. Set up, operate, and monitor specialized equipment such as cardiac monitors, pulse ox meters, IVAC and PCA pumps, feeding pumps, defibrillators, etc. Manage nasal-pharyngeal and gastric suction as well as a variety of other drainage tubes such as Foley catheters, hemovacs, JP drains, chest tubes.
