About the role
As Survey Support Section Chief, responsible for the independent accomplishment of hydrographic and terrestrial survey-related work and the final mapping products. Provides updated surveying drawings and navigation charts to Pilots Associations, Masters of Commercial Vessels, and other Government Agencies as navigation aids and public safety advisories. Uses CAD/GIS skills to review and upload completed maps to the District's website and the national e-Hydro database, ensuring all tasks operate within budget constraints. Performs quality assurance checks and ensures current CAD standards are met for all deliverables. Maintains a well-equipped, highly trained hydrographic surveying unit and coordinates with maritime agencies (Pilots Associations, Coast Guard, etc.) to provide technical data and ensure navigational safety. Coordinates field parties and contractors, manages the use of survey vessels, and oversees A/E contract deliverables.
