Medical Technician (Certified Medical Assistant)

Conduct patient screening for the Privileged Provider, documenting the chief complaint and obtaining complete vital signs, height, and weight. Apply and remove bandages, binders, basic dressings, and hot or cold therapy packs. Administer medications subcutaneously, intramuscular, intradermal, and screen and administer standard immunizations in accordance with established protocols. Collect specimens, perform urine dipstick testing and blood glucose finger sticks, and enter laboratory requests into the automated system. Schedule appointment with the appropriate clinic and health care provider dependent on patient disposition, complaint or symptoms or services requested. Initiate work orders, and restock supplies required to support patient care and maintain clinic operations. Maintain waiting areas in a clean, orderly condition and provide orientation for Red Cross volunteers and newly assigned personnel.
