About the role
You will serve as a Security Specialist (Port) and be responsible for preparing and validating plans for the effective and efficient response to all port safety and security contingencies for which the Coast Guard and community will respond. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Analyzing and resolving difficult and complex port, vessel, and facility safety/security problems. Developing and managing port, vessel, and facility safety/security contingency plans and annexes. Reviewing federal, state, and local emergency response plans to determine level of preparedness and to determine the extent of planning needed at all levels. Coordinating with Port Safety Committee, Harbor Safety Committee, or other subcommittees, and Cast Guard District and Area Planning agents to establish the proper level of participation in port security plan development and exercises.
