Actuary

Lead the development of Medicare and Medicaid cost estimates that involve coordination with actuaries developing estimates for Title II Disability Insurance benefits and/or Title XVI Supplemental Security Income payments. Develop and maintain a person-based database which includes utilization data for all health care services covered under Medicaid and CHIP. Provide actuarial and technical assistance in review of Medicaid or other health care program waivers, alternative payment models, and managed care programs within the Office of the Actuary and to other CMS components. Review Medicaid managed care actuarial certifications for proposed capitation rates and provide opinions on the reasonableness and soundness of capitation rates.
