About the role
Obtain images of ophthalmic anatomy and/or evaluation of vision function. Record pupillary reactions, checks angles prior to dilating eyes and instills topical drugs into the eyes. Set up ophthalmic ultrasound equipment for diagnostic use by the physician and performs routine cleaning of the ultrasound probes. Conduct a variety of manual and automatic perimetric exams. Interpret results of visual fields to determine need for additional and refined testing. Perform routine, emergency, and walk-in screenings. Serve as first surgical assistant and as scrub assistant to the surgeon in major and minor surgical procedures.
