Civil Engineer

The incumbent is the focal point within the District for the coordination of all phases of assigned projects from preliminary planning through completion of work. Works closely with the Chief, Design Section, other functional chiefs, project engineers, programming personnel and other involved employees to accomplish long- and short-range goals and objectives. Routinely meets with and briefs U.S. Coast Guard, federal, state and local elected officials, municipal officials, pilots and other navigation interests to inform them of project specifics to obtain and evaluate their feedback Prepares internal memos to inform the chain of command on the progress of work and to make recommendations for further actions. Coordinates with federal and state resource agencies including the EPA, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the National Marine Fisheries Services, etc. in order to discuss and evaluate appropriate regulatory requirements for the projects. Determines the funding needs of the project
