About the role

Make scheduled and special operational checks of equipment to include switchboards, rheostats, relays, circuit breakers voltage regulators, dredge pump speed control system, telemotor steering system, engine order telegraph, etc. Observe gauges, pistons, notes unusual conditions (heating, oil or grease loss, loose fittings, broken or inoperative units, etc.) and makes repairs or adjustments as required. Make periodic or special preventative maintenance checks of units. Listen, dismantles, observes, replaces scheduled or worn elements, lubricates, packs, repairs, etc., as required. Install replacement or new equipment (floodlights, signals, fixtures, etc.) Repair, or participates in the repair, of any electrical unit on board (motors, pumps, generators, control panels, special equipment, etc.) Itemize materials and parts used. Changes instrument charts.
