Equipment Specialist (Direct Hire)

Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised. Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee. Demonstrates expert proficiency in major wind-tunnel test execution, model installation, and facility operations; prior or current operator certification for a major wind-tunnel facility is required. Provides technical expertise as a machinist specializing in model fabrication to advise and guide customers on optimal model development and wind-tunnel interface requirements and to perform on-site, model-relevant fabrication and modifications. Performs work of a broad scope in the design, buildup, adaptation, and modification of mechanical/electrical systems or component parts, which are part of complex experimental research tests.
