You will serve as a/an Marine Machinery Mechanic (Crane Op) and be responsible for removing machinery from boats, ships, or stations for repairs or modification.. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Operating boom cranes of varying sizes (20-ton with 70-foot boom, 25 ton with 72- foot boom, 35-ton with 136- foot boom, 45-ton with 60-foot boom, etc.). Inspects equipment and reports defects. Transporting a variety of loads including buoys, small boats, wood and steel pilings, vessel masts, booms, crane sections, engines, and heavy equipment and machines. Lifts personnel in a man lift safety basket to perform Performing refueling and routine maintenance of equipment, including oil and filter changes, tire repairs, and chassis and wire rope lubrication.
