About the role
As a Accountant, you will: Design, develop, test, and implement automated accounting systems to support HHS programs, including evaluating system effectiveness and resolving implementation issues. Provide expert accounting guidance and technical advice to program managers, accounting staff, and HHS officials on complex financial matters and policy development. Review legislation and regulations to develop accounting guidelines and ensure compliance with GAO and OMB internal control requirements. Analyze accounting systems and operations to identify problem areas and implement solutions that improve program effectiveness and financial performance. Maintain and enhance complex accounting systems by developing procedures, conducting financial analyses and audits, and resolving discrepancies in financial data.
