About the role

Manages all phases of the multi-disciplinary Human and Animal Food laboratory programs and analyses aimed at effective accomplishment of the Agency's consumer protection mission. Participates fully in formal and informal policy and planning activities to formulate the overall program operating goals, objectives and milestones for a field laboratory and the FDA. Develops, approves, and modifies operating procedures and practices within the laboratory, ensuring the most effective application. Provides broad and specific scientific, technical and policy knowledge in their area of expertise as well as in the areas of expertise of the multidisciplinary staff of the Laboratory. Provides strategic leadership for the Laboratory, Office, Center and Agency with regard to agency policy and regulation and the need for scientific research and method development support for those policies.
